SAN FRANCISCO – The Fresno State cross country team is set to begin the 2025 season at the USF Invitational for the third straight season.
The Bulldogs are headed to Golden State Park in San Francisco, California, on Friday afternoon with the women's 6k beginning at 2 p.m. PT and the men's 8k set for 3 p.m. PT.
TALE OF THE TERRAIN
The USF Invitational is held at Hellman Hollow in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco.
The mostly flat course is a 2000m loop composed of grass and dirt, with a gradual descent from the start to the 600m mark and a gradual uphill elevation change from the 1200m mark to the 1800m mark.
LACE 'EM UP
23 Bulldogs are set to take on Hellman Hallow to open 2025: 10 men and 13 women.
On the women's side, Diana Cortez, Hannah Garrity, Kushleen Kaskh, Janae Penner and Kylie Ward are no strangers to Hellman Hallow after having competed at the USF Invitational in 2024.
RJ Estrada, Noah Graffigna, Guillermo Lopez, Enrigue Loredo, Emilio Nunez, Jaden Tungate and Elijah Williams also ran in the men's 8k just one year ago.
THE COMPETITION
The USF Invitational boasts over 300 runners from 14 different institutions.
The women's 6k will include 158 runners while the men's 8k will have 169 participants.
Fresno State will face conference opponents in Nevada and San Jose State, in addition to nonconference opponents American River, Cal Poly, Cal, Pacific, Sacramento State, San Francisco, Santa Clara, St. Mary's, Stanford, UC Davis and UC Santa Cruz.
