EUGENE, Ore. - Fresno State senior Cierra Jackson earned first team All-America honors in shot put, finishing eighth in the event at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field on Thursday.
On her first throw, Jackson saw a mark of 17.70m/58-1. That throw would be long enough to hold for a Top 8 finish into and throughout the finals.
Jackson is Fresno State's first thrower to earn first team All-America honors in shot put since Dot Jones in 1985, and first Bulldog in any event since Vanja Spaic (javelin) in 2021. She became the program's third-ever All-American in the shot put, joining Jones and Rosario Sanchez (second team - 2010).
Jackson's shot put career comes to a close with the highest of honors. In Fresno State's history, she owns the program record in the event and three Mountain West medals in her outdoor seasons.
The 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships continue tomorrow as sophomore Ella Spaulding begins her heptathlon events. Jackson will compete in the discus on Saturday, while Spaulding wraps up her heptathlon events. More information can be found here.
