Jackson, Spaulding set to compete at NCAA Outdoor Championships

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State track and field team heads into the final week of the 2025 outdoor season, competing at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon this week. The Bulldogs have two representatives at the Championship in senior Cierra Jackson and sophomore Ella Spaulding.

Jackson will open competition on Thursday, June 12 with the shot put at 6:10 p.m.

Spaulding will begin her heptathlon events on Friday, June 13. She starts the day with the 100m hurdles, then will compete in the high jump, shot put and 200m on Friday.

On Saturday, Jackson competes in the discus at 12:30 p.m. and Spaulding rounds out her heptathlon events with the long jump, javelin and 800m throughout the evening.

Cierra Jackson notables:

Jackson will compete in the shot put and discus at the outdoor championship

It is the second time in her career that she makes a trip to the NCAA Championship in discus, doing so last as a redshirt freshman in 2022.

Fresno State has qualified an athlete for multiple events in back-to-back seasons as Jackson joins Jordyn Bryant from 2024 who advanced in shot put and discus. Prior to 2024, it had been over 25 years since Fresno State sent an athlete to the national stage in two events.

Jackson is the program's all-time record holder in both events

Jackson is ranked No. 14 in the country in shot put (17.77m/58'3.75")

Jackson is No. 3 in the country in discus (64.42m/211'4")

Jackson qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in discus with the farthest throw in the west regional, with a mark of 61.27m/201-0.

Ella Spaulding notables:

Spaulding was an automatic qualifier for the heptathlon, ranking 24th in the nation

The sophomore Bulldog won the heptathlon title at the Mountain West championship, becoming the youngest Bulldog to win the MW heptathlon title

Her 5,551 points in the heptathlon are second all-time at Fresno State

Spaulding faces her first career trip to Eugene

Of the 24 athletes competing in the heptathlon at the Outdoor Championships, Spaulding is one of 11 underclassmen
