COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Fresno State senior Cierra Jackson punched her ticket to the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championship at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon in the shot put with a qualifying mark on Thursday as the Bulldogs opened competition at the NCAA West First Round in Texas.
After starting the morning without a mark in the hammer throw, Jackson threw for a 16.71m mark on her first attempt in shot put and it would be enough to keep her in the Top 12 to qualify for a trip to Eugene with ease. Jackson advances to the outdoor championships for the first time since her redshirt freshman season in 2022.
Moving On
Senior Jewel Ash bettered her own 400m hurdles program record that she set just a couple of weeks ago at the Mountain West Outdoor Championships. Having to wait until heat five for her time to shine, Ash took second in her heat with a time of 57.46 to advance to Saturday's finals. Of all competitors in the event, her time was 13th overall.
