FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's basketball head coach Ryan McCarthy announced the hiring of Jalon McCullough as the Director of Player Development and assistant coach on Thursday morning.
McCullough enters his first season with the Bulldogs and his coaching responsibilities will include all-around player development, assistance with the guard players and team development camps.
McCullough comes as a part of McCarthy's previous staff at the University of Anchorage Alaska and will spend his third year under McCarthy's leadership. Prior to working on the women's side at UAA, he spent two seasons as an assistant with the men's program.
"Jalon has been on our staff the past two seasons and has a background on the men's side as well. He has been great with individual skill development and has a passion for player development," said head coach Ryan McCarthy. "He will also be an important part to us growing basketball camps as we look to impact the Valley with our investment with youth basketball players who have dreams of one day becoming Bulldogs."
The Fairbanks native transitioned into a coaching role following his collegiate career at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where he was a three-time letterwinner. Prior to his collegiate career, McCullough starred at Monroe Catholic High School in Fairbanks, where his teams advanced to the ASAA state title game every year – winning three times.
McCullough earned his bachelor of arts degree in communications, with a minor in sports management, from UAF in 2020.
