FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team will continue its opening homestand this weekend with a series against Cal State Fullerton at home.
Following the series, the Diamond 'Dogs will travel to Saint Mary's for their first midweek game of the season.
ONE SERIES DOWN, MANY MORE TO GO
The Bulldogs opened the 2025 season with a four-game series, hosting the BYU Cougars for the first time in over 20 years.
Fresno State dominated in their first two games against BYU, defeating them 7-1 and 13-4 before dropping the final two games of the weekend.
VALLEY BOYS
Eight 'Dogs in the starting lineup for Opening Weekend are Central Valley natives.
Sky Collins, Cayden Munster, Eddie Saldivar, Murf Gray, Griffen Sotomayor, Lee Trevino, Cam Schneider and Jack Anker all made appearances in the starting lineup for the Bulldogs.
The Valley natives on the Bulldog roster range from Turlock to Bakersfield.
In total, 18 Diamond 'Dogs are from Valley cities.
THE MILK MAN DELIVERS
Fresno State baseball's Jack Anker has been named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week after his lights-out performance against BYU to start the 2025 season.
Anker pitched six scoreless innings against the Cougars on Opening Day for the Bulldogs and allowed only four hits.
He set a new career-high of 10 strikeouts to lead the conference.
The right-handed pitcher holds a 0.00 ERA and owns an early 1-0 record.
This is the second consecutive season that Anker has been named MW Pitcher of the Week after the opening weekend, earning the honor on February 19, 2024.
KEEP AN EYE OUT
Fresno State Baseball's Murf Gray and Eddie Saldivar have been added to the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award Watch List, the organization announced.
The award, created by the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation, was open to nominations from all Division I baseball programs in the country. The BBNCSA is based on performance at the plate, academics, and personal integrity.
This marks Saldivar's first and Gray's second appearance on the list.
This year's watch list consists of 46 players representing 16 conferences and one independent from across the country, including all four power conferences. The 2025 list is dominated by Juniors (29) and includes 14 seniors, two sophomores and one grad student.
The winner of the BBNCSA will be announced in June and honored at a gala in the fall at the Fort Worth Club. Fans can follow news about the Bobby Bragan National Collegiate Slugger Award presented by SR Bats and its Player of the Week Honorees during the season at www.braganslugger.com.
