'DOGS ON THE MOVE
Four 'Dogs will make the trip to Greensboro for the week, Ryley Clark, Julia Matney, Aliz Kalmar and Jenna Pulkkinen.
Clark is the only non-veteran Bulldog to join the trip this week. The freshman has earned her share of success this season, by finishing no lower than third in the 200 backstroke in all meets this season. The Arizona native saw her first collegiate event win in the 200 backstroke against CSUB and FPU. In Greensboro, the freshman will swim the 200 IM and both backstroke events.
Kalmar continues to set the tone this season with dominant performances in the breaststroke. The Hungarian junior is coming off another record breaking performance at the Utah Tech Invite in late November. Kalmar added on the program record for the 200 breaststroke (2:10.79), her second one of the season. At the U.S. Open, Kalmar will swim both the 100 & 200 breaststroke and the 200 IM.
Pulkkinen will see both breaststroke events this week. The Helsinki native comes into Greensboro this week on a high note after dropping just under four seconds in the 100 breaststroke (1:00.99) and over four seconds in the 200 breaststroke (2:13.45). Pulkkinen looks to grab her first event win this season in the discipline after multiple second place finishes.
Matney has held consistent through the mid-way of the season. This week she will swim the 100 butterfly. Matney wrapped up the Utah Tech invite with a 6th place finish in the sprint butterfly event (54.56), improving by over a second. Matney's LC time secured her spot in the meet (1:01.97) at the Speedo Grand Challenge.
