Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill was briefly detained by police due to a minor traffic violation that took place outside Hard Rock Stadium hours prior to the Dolphins' Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday (September 8), his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

"Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill was detained by police today entering the stadium for a driving violation, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus. But Rosenhaus said Hill will play today," Schefter wrote on his X account before quoting Rosenhaus as saying, "I just left Tyreek and he is getting ready to play today."

A video shared by Schefter showed Hill placed in handcuffs and laying on the ground outside the stadium.

The Dolphins confirmed they were aware of Hill's arrest in a statement release on their social media accounts.

"This morning, WR Tyreek Hill was pulled over for a traffic incident about one block from the stadium and briefly detained by police. He has since been released. Several teammates saw the incident and stopped to offer support. Tyreek and all other players involved have safely arrived to the stadium and will be available for today’s game," the team said.

Hill recently agreed to a three-year, $90 million contract with the Dolphins, which included a $7 million signing bonus and 459 million guaranteed. The All-Pro wide receiver ed the NFL with 1,799 receiving yards and was the co-leader for receiving touchdowns with 13 in 2023.
