Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson is reportedly expected to be left on the Physically Unable to Perform List to begin the 2024 NFL season, which will rule him ineligible for the team's first four games, league sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter Tuesday (August 27) morning.

Hockenson, 27, suffered a torn ACL during Week 16 of the NFL season, but is expected to be active at some point during the upcoming season.

"Minnesota is leaving TE T.J. Hockenson on the Physically Unable to Perform List, which means he is ineligible to be active during the first four games of the season, per sources. Hockenson still is recovering from last season’s torn ACL but is expected to return this season," Schefter wrote on his X account.

Hockenson led all NFL tight ends and all Vikings players with 960 receiving yards and ranked second at his position for receptions (95) and eighth for touchdown receptions (5) at the time of his injury last December. Minnesota will begin its 2024 regular season schedule with a road matchup against the New York Giants on September 8, home games against the San Francisco 49ers on September 15 and Houston Texans on September 22, and a road game against the NFC North Division rival Green Bay Packers in its first of two annual matchups on September 29.
