Bears GM To Make Mitch Trubisky and Nick Foles Compete For Starting QB

In an interesting turn of events for the career of Mitch Trubisky, it would appear that the young quarterback will now have his back against the wall after the Chicago Bears acquired the services of former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback, Nick Foles. Trubisky was already in a tough position considering his spotty performance last season. Chicago Bears GM Ryan Pace announced today that Trubisky and Foles would have to compete for the starting job.

Statistically, Trubisky has had some setbacks 2018 vs. 2019 with his completion percentage, passing yards, touchdowns, and quarterback rating taking a dip. He also had his largest amount of sacks in 2019. It's not like Nick Foles is some statistical giant considering he's mostly been a back-up quarterback, but it's really hard to erase a Super Bowl victory.

With two adequate quarterbacks on the roster where one is young but not quite cutting it, and the other is experienced but hasn't been able to maintain a starting sport, Bears are going to let the two throwers battle it out.

Jonas Knox & Dan Beyer react to this news below. Jonas makes the case that the Bears GM is looking to preserve his job considering how the Bears have come up short in the last two seasons. There's also that underlying thorn from their past that Bears selected Mitch Trubisky over Patrick Mahomes. Beyer sees this as an opportunity for Mitch Trubisky to wake up. It's no longer about Trubisky trying to keep the guaranteed job. It now becomes about his career being on the line.
