Rob Manfred Is No Roger Goodell

Rob Manfred Is No Roger Goodell

Doug Gottlieb: "Rob Manfred has got the Houston Astros by the lower intestines and he can't do a damn thing about it. Say what you want about Roger Goodell's power and if he abuses that power, but at least he can protect his sport the way in which the owners see fit. Whereas Rob Manfred can negotiate deals, can be a cheerleader, can try and change playoff rules, but the truth is, the power to discipline...he just doesn't have. I think that's a win for football."

Doug Gottlieb dives deep into the Astros cheating scandal, specifically comparing MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. He reminds us that Manfred’s power of discipline is severely hampered by the MLB collective bargaining agreement and his hands are mostly tied unlike Goodell who is often judge, jury and executioner.
