Bulldogs add Waters for fall

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno State volleyball team and head coach Jonathan Winder announced the addition of Hannah Waters to the program for the fall 2022 season on Wednesday.

Hannah Waters

Position: Setter

Height: 5-5

Hometown: Goodyear, Ariz.

Previous School: Lamar University

High School: Millennium

Waters arrives in Fresno after spending two seasons at Lamar University in 2020 and 2021. The Goodyear, Ariz, native appeared in 87 sets and started 25 of the Cardinals' 26 matches last season. She led the team with 5.37 assists per set compiling 487 assists on the season, finished third on the team with 208 digs and was named Academic All-WAC.

With the 2020-21 season split into both the fall and spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Waters appeared in all 59 sets and started all 17 matches leading the team with 7.02 assists per set accumulating 414 assists on the year. She added 154 digs, 13 kills, 11 service aces and seven blocks and earned a spot on the Southland Conference Commissioner's Honor Roll.

A three-year letter winner at Millennium High School in Goodyear, Ariz., and 2020 graduate, Waters earned 5A Desert All-Region Second Team as a junior and senior helping lead the Tigers to the state title in 2018 and a runner-up finish in 2019.

Waters chose the Bulldogs because of the team culture, competitiveness within the entire athletic department and welcoming environment that Fresno State offers that made her feel at home.

Winder on Waters:

"Hannah has been described by her teammates and coaches as competitive, driven, tough, and hard-working. She fits our culture extremely well and will be a tremendously positive influence in our gym. She's extremely quick, has good location as a setter, and will play with great passion every time on the court. She's an experienced setter at the Division I level who has also competed at a high level in club. We're excited to have her join our program this upcoming season!"

Waters joins five other newcomers along with nine returners for the Bulldogs this fall.
