Former NFL Player Terrell Roberts Shot And Killed At His Grandma's House

Former NFL player Terrell Roberts was shot and killed while visiting his grandmother in Richmond, California. When police arrived at the home, they found the 38-year-old collapsed in the backyard with a gunshot wound to his chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials believe he was shot in the garage following an altercation with an unidentified man. They are unsure if Roberts knew the suspect, who is described as a bald black man with a short beard, between 20 and 35 years old, and weighing about 250 pounds.

Roberts' family told KPIX that he had a "heart of gold" and was not “mixed up in anything bad.”

Roberts played three seasons in the NFL as a defensive back for the Cincinnati Bengals from 2003 to 2005.
