Houston Astros Pitchers Throw Combined No-Hitter Against The Mariners

Four Houston Astros pitchers threw a combined no-hitter against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday (August 3). Veteran starter Aaron Sanchez was making his first start with the Astros after he was acquired in a trade from the Toronto Blue Jays earlier in the week.

Sanchez, who entered the game sporting a 6.07 ERA, a 1.69 WHIP, and a record of 3-14, dazzled the Mariners' batters, throwing six hitless innings before handing the game over to the bullpen.

Will Harris, Joe Biagini, and Chris Devenski each pitched a hitless inning to finish off the Astros' second combined no-hitter in team history.

"It's hard to come to a team and feel like you can contribute in a way when they're already so good," Sanchez said after the Astros' 9-0 win. "It's been an unbelievable 48 hours, and for today to end like it did, I'm so happy."

It was the second time this season that the Mariners have been no-hit by multiple pitchers. The Angles accomplished the same feat on July 12.
